When you play online, a portion of every tournament buy-in or cash game pot is not given to the winner. The casino keeps this money; it is how they make their profit. This money that the players pay to the casino is called rake. Every month casinos add up how much rake they make from each individual player, this is called “Monthly Gross Revenue” or MGR for short. This is how much money the casino is making off you. Many poker players pay the full rake amount and the casinos are happy to take it from them.
